Eli Manning has thrown 15 touchdowns and two interceptions during the Giants’ two Super Bowl runs.

I am generally a Super Bowl Grinch. I don’t like the commercials, the halftime show, the parties, the buildup. None of it.

I just like watching the game.

But since I sat in front of the TV for four hours and took notes, I figured I could at least share my thoughts, some of which have an Eagles slant.

1. During the regular season, Eli Manning had 67 completions of 20+ yards, fourth-most in the NFL. At the 3:46 mark of the fourth quarter, he had zero such completions against the Patriots. But that’s when he lofted a beauty down the sideline to Mario Manningham for 38 yards, setting up the game-winning touchdown. Yes, Manningham did a great job to keep his feet in, but watch the replay. The throw was every bit as good as the catch. With the game on the line, Manning fit the ball in perfectly between Patriots defensive backs Sterling Moore and Patrick Chung. During the Giants’ two Super Bowl runs, Manning has thrown 15 touchdowns and two interceptions in eight games. Is Michael Vick capable of putting together four strong games in a row against playoff-level competition? That’s the question Eagles fans will be asking themselves for the next year, at least. Meanwhile, Manning is 31 years old and might just now be peaking as a quarterback.

2. In four playoff wins, the Giants allowed 56 points, or 14 points per game. They limited Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to 20 points. And they limited Tom Brady and the Patriots to 17. Is the Eagles’ defense capable of putting together that kind of four-game run under Juan Castillo? We’d all have to see it to believe it. Perry Fewell was not considered a great defensive coordinator when the regular season ended. In fact, some even wondered whether he’d last another season if the Giants lost in Week 17. Now? He’s probably on the same track as Steve Spagnuolo was after the Giants’ last Super Bowl win. If the Giants’ defense delivers a strong showing in 2012, Fewell could very well be a head coach somewhere in 2013.

3. I know opinion is split on him, but I thought Cris Collinsworth called a great game. I don’t think there’s an analyst who sees plays develop live better than Collinsworth. And he generally does a good job of explaining unusual plays. For example, Collinsworth pointed out that the key to the Brady safety was that Justin Tuck was pressuring him. Had Brady thrown the ball away just a second earlier, it would have been an incomplete pass with no penalty. But Tuck was relentless, starting out at left defensive end, looping behind Linval Joseph, bouncing off the left guard and knocking Brady down.

4. If Aaron Rodgers retired right now and went into TV, he would immediately be the best ex-player analyst out there. I’ll admit I only watched portions of the pre-game coverage, but Rodgers looked comfortable with the mic and made points I actually found interesting. What a concept, huh? Quite a departure from the usual yelling and over-the-top laughter you get from many ex-players.

5. I thought we were done with that “Written in the Stars” song when the baseball playoffs ended, but the NFL brought it back out when the Giants were introduced. Please bury that song. Forever. I’m begging you.

6. I’m interested to see what the coach’s tape shows on the Wes Welker drop. From the TV angle, it didn’t look like a good throw by Brady, although Welker should have made the catch. I’m not sure if Brady intentionally threw it to the outside, forcing Welker to turn his body, or if he just misfired.

7. Speaking of misfires, let’s go back to Dec. 11. With 5:41 left in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys led the Giants, 34-22. With under three minutes left, the score was 34-29. Tony Romo and the Dallas offense faced a 3rd-and-5 from its own 25. But Romo couldn’t connect with a wide-open Miles Austin. The Cowboys punted, and Manning took the Giants 53 yards in 1:26 for the game-winning score. New York escaped a fifth straight loss and improved to 7-6. They would lose just one more game the rest of the season, before winning six in a row and being crowned Super Bowl champs. I’m guessing Romo and Austin thought about that play wherever they were watching last night’s game.

8. Jason Pierre-Paul proved once again that you don’t need to pile up sack totals to affect a game. The box score shows no sacks for JPP, but he batted down two passes at the line of scrimmage, including one on third down that forced the Patriots to settle for a field goal. He also had a tackle for loss and drew a holding penalty. Yeah, that Brandon Graham/Pierre-Paul comparison isn’t going away any time soon.

9. If I ever need a spokesman, I’m hiring Clint Eastwood. By far the best commercial of the night. Haven’t felt that patriotic since the days of Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

10. If I ever am in charge of producing a Super Bowl commercial, I’m hiring Don Draper. Surprising how overall, the ads disappoint year after year. The default ideas seem to be animals and babies. Not doing it for me.

11. What were the odds of DeSean Jackson getting a mention during last night’s broadcast? Al Michaels referenced Jackson’s punt return in 2010 at the Meadowlands. After that game, the Eagles lost seven of their next eight games – three in a row to end the 2010 season and four of five to begin 2011. Now, the Giants are Super Bowl champs, and we don’t know if Jackson will even be in an Eagles uniform next season.

12. Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez finished first and second among tight ends in yards-after-the-catch during the regular season (668 and 534 respectively). Guess who was third? Brent Celek, with 500. Gronkowski clearly was not 100 percent last night. If he’s at full strength, does he come up with the Hail Mary at the end? Probably not. But it would have been close.

13. How many movies does Tim Riggins have coming up? Where is he finding the time to build that house in Dillon? I need answers.

14. We saw a cornerback from each team – Kyle Arrington and Aaron Ross – make excellent plays against the run. Not something you’re used to if you watched the 2011 Eagles. Nnamdi Asomugha had a couple good moments in run support, but overall, disappointed as a tackler. We know Asante Samuel isn’t going to give you much in that aspect. And neither is Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. That’s something that needs to improve this offseason – fewer missed tackles by defensive backs.

15. Ahmad Bradshaw had three carries of 20+ yards in 171 regular-season rushes, or one every 57 attempts. In four playoff games, he had five carries of 20+ yards in 57 rushes, or one every 11.4 attempts. Bradshaw’s 24-yard run in the first half last night set up the Giants’ first touchdown.

16. Hey yogurt company, you’ve got to do better than Uncle Jesse. C’mon!

17. Hey Bridgestone, maybe six or seven years ago, Steve Nash and Tim Duncan could have convinced me to buy some tires. But you may want to get some younger, more relevant spokesmen, considering that it’s, you know, 2012.

18. On Dec. 20, the Cowboys were 8-6; the Giants 7-7; the Eagles 6-8; and the Redskins 5-9. Who would have thought that the NFC East, which was horrible all season, would produce the Super Bowl champion?

19. The Patriots briefly seized control in the second quarter with a 14-play, 99-yard drive that resulted in a 4-yard Brady-to-Danny Woodhead touchdown. The offense took over with 4:03 left and three timeouts in its pocket. In case you’re wondering, the Eagles got to the 4-minute mark of the first half with all three timeouts exactly three times in 16 regular-season games.

20. What I’ve learned about sportswriters in Indianapolis from their Twitter feeds: If your city has a couple good steakhouses, a couple good places to get a beer and is easily walkable, they will consider it among the greatest places in the world.

21. What was Will Ferrell doing bouncing up and down on a tight-rope during the halftime show?

22. The Patriots had the 12th-fewest penalty yards per game in the regular season, but they were caught with 12 men on the field in the first half, drawing a flag that negated a Victor Cruz fumble.

23. Does luck play a role in winning a Super Bowl? Of course it does. The Giants fumbled three times in the past two games, but recovered all three. In the regular season, though, they recovered about 53.85 percent of fumbles, which was right around the league average.

24. Is there some kind of government mandate that requires announcers to mention that Chris Snee is Tom Coughlin’s son in-law during EVERY Giants game? We get it already!

25. I wonder how Trent Cole feels about Pierre-Paul dropping back into coverage. I also wonder how Brian Westbrook and Jon Runyan feel about Bradshaw not going down short of the end zone. For the record, I think letting the Giants score was absolutely the right call by Bill Belichick. Yes, there’s a chance the Giants botch the snap or miss the short field goal. But I’ll take my chances with Brady going 80 yards in 57 seconds, even though it didn’t work out.

.

INDIANAPOLIS — New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford set a Super Bowl record on Sunday night with three punts that forced the New England Patriots to start inside their own 10-yard line. Elias Sports Bureau reports that Weatherford is the first Super Bowl punter ever with three such punts. He could have had four, but a bad bounce carried his second one into the end zone before the Giants’ coverage team could down it.
Now, I know some of you complain when I talk about punters, but Giants fans who remember the Matt Dodge era know what Weatherford has meant to the team. He was one of the “non-sexy” signings GM Jerry Reese talked about in the offseason when I and others were ripping Reese for inactivity, and Weatherford’s performance in the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl capped an outstanding season.

A couple of other Giants set records Sunday night as well. Tom Coughlin became the oldest coach ever to win a Super Bowl, at the age of 65. And Eli Manning set a Super Bowl record for most consecutive completed passes to start a game. Manning completed his first nine.

Additionally, Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw became the fourth player to score the game-winning touchdown in the final minute of the Super Bowl (even though his team was telling him not to score it). The others are John Taylor, Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes, which means it’s now been done in three of the last five Super Bowls.

Internet giants Google Inc and Facebook removed content from some Indian domain websites on Monday following a court directive warning them of a crackdown “like China” if they did not take steps to protect religious sensibilities.

The two are among 21 companies ordered to develop a mechanism to block material considered religiously offensive after private petitioners took them to court over images deemed offensive to Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

Two cases have been brought by individuals against internet companies in India, stoking fears about censorship in the world’s largest democracy.

“(Our) review team has looked at the content and disabled this content from the local domains of (Google) search, Youtube and Blogger,” Google spokeswoman Paroma Roy Chowdhury said.

At the heart of the dispute is a law that India passed last year making companies responsible for user content posted on their websites, and giving them 36 hours to take down content if there is a complaint.

Last month, the companies said it was not possible for them to block content. Google’s Roy Chowdhury declined to comment on what had since been removed, and a Facebook representative said only that the company would release a statement later.

A New Delhi lower court hearing one of the cases, a civil suit brought by an Islamic scholar, told the companies on Monday to put in writing the steps they had taken to block offensive content, and submit reports within 15 days.

“Microsoft has filed an application for rejection of the suit on the grounds that it disclosed no cause of action against Microsoft,” a spokesperson for the company said. “The matter is sub judice and no further comments can be given.”

That suit was brought by scholar, Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasm, who runs a website called fatwaonline.org that gives answers to moral questions.

Google, Facebook, Yahoo! and Microsoft have appealed in the Delhi High Court against a separate criminal case successfully brought by journalist Vinay Rai.

The High Court has yet to rule on their appeal, but the sitting judge warned in January they were responsible for content on their websites and said he could block sites “like China” if they did not get their house in order.

In the Rai case, the court ordered the companies to stand trial for offences relating to the distribution of obscene material to minors, after being shown images it said were offensive to Prophet Mohammed, Jesus and various Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as several political leaders.

“If the companies have actually removed some content, they should put in place a mechanism to do it regularly, instead of waiting for a court case every time,” Rai told Reuters.

Fewer than one in 10 of India’s 1.2 billion population has access to the Internet, but that still makes it the third-biggest Internet market after China and the United States. The number of Internet users in India is expected to almost triple to 300 million over the next three years.

Despite the new rules to block offensive content, India’s Internet access is still largely uncensored, in contrast to the tight controls in neighbouring China. But like many other governments around the world, India has become increasingly nervous about the power of social media.

While civil rights groups have opposed the new laws, politicians say posting offensive images in a socially conservative country, which has a history of violence between religious groups, presents a danger to the public.

Mashable’s Davos coverage is presented by BMW i, a new concept dedicated to providing mobility solutions for the urban environment.

Mashable founder and CEO Pete Cashmore sat down with David Jones of Havas to talk about the new responsibilities of today’s leaders to respond to social media, as part of Mashable and Scribd’s Documented@Davos series.

Jones talks about what he calls the “age of damage.” In the past, government and business leaders haven’t been held as easily accountable by the people, but the rise of social media has changed that.

“If you are the CEO of a company or the leader of a country and you are acting irresponsibly, people have been empowered through social media to take you down,” Jones said. “Whether you are the head of an Arab Spring country, the head of BP, in fashion or in football, people have the ability to undermine you and remove you if you behave in the wrong way.”

Standing up to injustices or bad behavior is just easier, said Jones. Thirty years ago, demonstrating was an “uncomfortable or dangerous” process, but now it only involves raising your voice on social media.

“Every single individual has now been empowered to create a mass movement,” Jones said.

The caveat to this, Jones explained, is that social media movements don’t create leaders. Instead, leaders need to be aware of social media, and the best ways to exist in a social world. “Be transparent, accurate and speedy” are the most important takeaways for leaders, said Jones, as well as that to know that people are watching you always, even if you personally don’t opt in.

“Doing good and doing well are no longer separate things, and in the future if you want to do well, you’ll have to do good,” Jones said.

What do you think of Jones’ message to leaders? Do you think he is right? Watch the video above and share your views in the comments.

Mashable is working with Scribd on a program called Documented@Davos, where we’ll be interviewing young leaders, technology pioneers and forward-thinking organizations to share the important issues being discussed at Davos with everyone online. You can follow along with the hashtag #DavosDocs.

WASHINGTON – What would you do to be the first to purchase the hottest new supercar? Bribe the first recipient with a munchkin? An urban zipwire network? A Soup Nazi?

Jerry Seinfeld wants the 2013 Acura NSX, and he wants it bad.

Just days before the Super Bowl Christmas of television commercials, the Japanese luxury automaker has leaked a 2-minute bit, with distinct cameos from the comedian’s long-running show.

Check out his attempts to secure the first one off the lot:

The NSX generated a great deal of buzz at the Detroit auto show earlier this month. Within three years, a vehicle based on the concept will be in global production, said Takanobu, president of parent company Honda Motor Co. It will be developed by Honda R&D Americas and built in Ohio, he said, as Acura works to make the U.S. a hub for Acura worldwide.

“NSX will make the driver one with the car,” he said.

Seinfeld and Leno have come together in an epic battle; gnashing of teeth, clawing of eyes…No? Well in any case the two have teamed together for a new Acura commercial that debuted online today

In the commercial, Seinfeld sets out on a bogus journey to disuade the client in front of him from buying the new Acura. Jerry bribes him with everything from cash to his own personal soup nazi, an omelette bar and even a fun zip-line across the city. When the pair finally land the man is convinced to give Seinfeld the rights to the car, only to be flanked by Leno in an awesome jet powered flight suit. The man insists on giving the car to Leno who then takes the keys and the man off into the sky leaving Seinfeld behind on the roof.

With cheesy Seinfeld humor throughout the commercial is set to be a hit among Seinfeld fans. After the self titled show left the air in 1999, memorable character hits such as the soup nazi have long been loved by fans and soup aficionados alike.

[More from Mashable: The Swarm: Short Horror Film Made Entirely on Phones [VIDEO]]

Jerry Seinfeld wants the new Acura NSX. He loves it so much, the new ad from Acura would have us believe, that he would do anything to be the first person to own one.

Unfortunately, Jerry is number two on the list, and the ad shows us just how far he’s prepared to take that first spot from an unsuspecting customer.

[More from Mashable: Face-Detection Program Ranks Senators with the Biggest Smiles [VIDEO]]

The elaborate ad, which Acura posted on YouTube, is quite long (1:52), but it’s well worth the watch. In it, Seinfeld concocts a myriad of hilarious favors he’s ready to perform in order to get that car first; he even calls on his old frenemy, the Soup Nazi, to aid him. However, as usual, things don’t go exactly as planned.

Acura’s new commerical is yet another Super Bowl ad that premiered before the actual game, but (mercifully, perhaps), this one does not include dancing or singing animals — if you don’t count the holographic monkey. Check out the rest of the Super Bowl ads released so far in the slideshow below.

How do you like the ad? Do you wish some of these companies waited until the big game or do you prefer watching them on your own schedule? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Not surprisingly, the sequel to the most-shared ad of last year’s Super Bowl, and of all of 2011 for that matter, is leading the pack this year. Volkswagen released this video last week showing dogs barking to the tune of Star Wars’s “The Imperial March.” So does that mean there will be dogs in this year’s ad? More Star Wars? We’ll know soon enough.
